The No Greater Sacrifice (NGS) scholarship delivers assistance to reduce the unmet financial cost of higher education for children of fallen or severely wounded servicemembers.

This unique scholarship program provides individualized funding for each scholar. In addition to the financial support for undergraduate education, NGS provides customized, personalized mentorship to help define their career and educational goals and to improve their quality of life through the pursuit of higher education.     

NGS provides scholarship funds primarily to dependents up to the age of 26 years old whose parent or legal guardian while serving in the United States military after 9/11/2001 has fallen in the line of duty or suffered from a wound, illness, or injury in the line of duty with a disability rating of 60% or above from the Department of Veterans Affairs or Department of Defense equivalent. 

NGS selects recipients for both immediate and future use (infant to 11th grade) of higher education benefits. 

NGS plans to award scholarships that provide assistance to reduce any unmet financial costs of higher education for students during the academic year, including tuition and fees, schoolbooks, room and board, special equipment, and other expenses deemed necessary. 

NGS funds will provide assistance in reducing the financial burden that remains after government benefits and/or any other scholarship monies or financial aid is applied. 

Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the recipient’s school unless the NGS Board deems another method appropriate. 

NGS defines “higher education” as advanced learning through a bachelor’s degree or associate’s degree from an approved institution or certificate from a trade school. Funding will be available for up to 36 months of approved education expenses up to the age of 26.  

This is a competitive scholarship. Once selected, Scholars do not need to apply each year.
