The Headstrong Project
The Headstrong Project is a non-profit mental health organization providing confidential, barrier-free, and stigma-free trauma-focused treatment to all eras of service members, veterans, and their families connected to their care, regardless of discharge status.
Headstrong addresses the mental health challenges faced by those who have experienced trauma before, during, and after service. Our goal is to help our clients “Triumph Over Trauma” by providing them with effective mental health treatment. Headstrong’s network of clinical trauma specialists offers individualized, evidence-based trauma-focused, outpatient care to our clients.

Service members and veterans who seek support from Headstrong hear from us in two business days. Our clinical team carefully matches them with expert clinicians trained in front-line therapies proven to reduce PTSD and depression symptoms. Following intake, clients receive their first counseling session in two weeks or less.

The Headstrong Project currently operates in Washington, D.C., and 15 states: Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, and Washington, and is expanding into new states every year. Headstrong’s clinical partner network comprises almost 300 professionals, including psychologists, licensed clinical social workers, counselors, psychiatrists, and neurofeedback providers. Additionally, due to multistate licensure, telehealth services are available in all 50 states to accommodate clients who move after starting treatment in one of our 15 core states.
The Headstrong Project provides evidence-based trauma-focused psychotherapy to veterans of all eras and regardless of discharge status. Informed by clinical practice guidelines, THP therapists offer the leading three PTSD treatments: cognitive processing therapy (CPT), eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), and prolonged exposure (PE).
